There are good books and then there are great books!
Books that are rare… books that are vintage… history books… biographies… books about everything you can imagine.
What books do you love? If you had unlimited money, what are the books you would purchase? If you could build your own library, what would be your theme or goal?
Few people don’t like to read. I am an avid reader and love to write. Some days, the words just flow out of my mind to the keyboard. Other days, it is painful… nothing comes to my mind.
There is nothing better than sitting in a comfy chair, watching the logs on the fireplace dance, and listening to soft, easy listening music.
I love a great history book.
History was one of my majors in college. Great biographies have always fascinated me. Reading about how people of lowly backgrounds have jumped into our history pages of greatness.
Mysteries… ahh, the intrigue.
“How to” books… well, sometimes, when I need to know how to! Books… I just love books. I love to read books on my computer, but there is nothing more enjoyable than having a real book in my hands. Nothing compares to turning the pages and the musty smell of an old book… that is living!
Where do I find those old, rare, musty books? Visit the library? I need to drive an hour and walk through shelves and shelves of books.
Much easier to just sit down at my computer and browse through the categories I love. Pick one and click buy, and it arrives a few days later. That’s how I buy books now. Nothing against libraries or bookstores. I visit one, but to purchase a book, it is much easier to do so from my home, in front of a blazing fire in the fireplace.
Let me share where I buy my books.
I have a long list of places I have purchased books; However, one place keeps coming to mind because of the ease of purchase and the magnificent supply of books they have. Check it out here.
Why do I buy books? Good question… I love to read. Are they a good investment? I think they are a better investment than stocks or bonds today. The stock market is so volatile and money in a savings account is like burning it! Real estate investments? Not seen much increase in my property, have you?
Books are a great investment, but more than that, I love to hold them, read them and just admire them in my library. The best return is the enjoyment books bring me.
What about old manuscripts?
Ever thought of owning and enjoying comic books? How about rare photographs? There are so many collectible opportunities.
I had never given thought to collect comic books until a friend said he had just sold his “superman” collection for several thousand dollars… got my attention!
Signed manuscripts had never crossed my mind until I read some prices that signed documents were bringing! Old photos? I thought we limited them to family and was just something you put in an album for the kids. Have you looked at some prices for rare photos?
Let’s look at collecting comic books. What should you collect? The best collection is a theme or a character. How do I begin? Have friends who collect… it will surprise you at how many do. It is shocking at the number of stores that sell comic books to collectors.
Do some research… the Internet is full of ideas on collecting comic books.
Collecting old photographs was not on my radar until I began looking through the Internet and seeing some rare and unique photos that are available and the prices they bring. You begin by doing the research, just as I did, searching for old photographs. You will be astounded by what you find.
You’ve probably never given a thought to collecting old maps…
neither had I until I became fascinated when I began to look at some maps and prices they bring! Got my attention.
There are all kinds of collectibles that you can enjoy and profit from. I was just collecting old books when the source I was buying books from opened a new dimension for me. Talk about an eye-opener!
Excitement ran through me like an electric shock! I saw a whole new world of enjoyment and opportunity. I began to share my collection thoughts with my friends and found several who were also interested. We began to swap items in our collections.
My wife has dealt with vintage pottery and antiques for years.
Talk about a letdown… try selling some high-priced pottery or antiques that you bought in the 80s and 90s. After you pick yourself up off the floor, you will shake your head and ask why?
I have long advocated that any collection must be something that you enjoy. I would purchase nothing vintage, hoping for a profit. Art collections can be a roller coaster. Antiques can be a ride and not a pleasant one. Be sure you enjoy looking and handling what you buy.
That is the reason I love collecting old, rare, musty books… you can read them! You can look at them and enjoy seeing them in your library.
Old photographs bring me a lot of enjoyment and memories.
never dreamed about buying any since I was a kid! Remember swapping them with your buddies? Now it is called collecting!
There are still many great books, comic books, photographs, and manuscripts that can be purchased at reasonable prices.
Don’t miss this great opportunity to grab some great items while they are still available. Find out here.
Perhaps, like me, you will ask where can I purchase these collections, and can I afford them?
I can answer the first question; however, it is up to you to decide where you place your money and what you invest in.
The source I am recommending is one of the most stable, trustworthy sources I have found.
You will never know until you do the research for yourself. I can provide you with a link, but you must decide for yourself and open a door for you where you will enjoy browsing for hours, and for certain, your appetite for collecting will be whetted here.
